Provide the perfect “home” for your growing baby

Your body goes through a lot of changes during pregnancy to make space for and support your growing baby. Hormone changes cause ligaments in your pelvis to loosen and make space for baby — but this also affect joints and ligaments all over the body (which is less desirable). Regular chiropractic care helps your body stay in alignment to reduce the common aches and pains associated with pregnancy.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.

Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance.

In contrast, many Western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Some believe that this stimulation boosts your body’s natural painkillers.

Benefits of acupuncture:

  • Chronic pain
  • Reduce stress
  • Improved sleep
  • Help prepare the body for labor and delivery in the pregnant patient

Body and Soul Acupuncture

My interest in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine began 10 years ago with my own search for increased health and relief from chronic pain. After 3 years of traditional medical treatment with no pain relief, I began to seek alternative therapies, eventually finding acupuncture to be very effective in decreasing pain while increasing my function and mobility. After 35 years of working in the allied health care field at Mayo Clinic, I went back to school to learn acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I am devoted to the success and well-being of my patients while providing safe, effective, and compassionate care. My philosophy involves treating you to the best of my ability. If I cannot help you within a series of treatments, I am happy to refer you to someone I feel might take a different approach or have a varying skill set then what I offer. I also like to stress that I am not just an acupuncturist. I practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with acupuncture being only one component. Other areas of TCM that I include in my practice are: cupping, acupressure, Tui Na (Chinese massage), herbal therapy, Qigong, meditation and TCM food therapy. I am a general practitioner and specialize in treating YOU! All of you in body, mind, and spirit.

I am very excited to be part of the team at Full Circle Wellness and Elmore Chiropractic. My mission in performing therapeutic massage is to help my clients bring balance to their day-to-day lives, hold space for their relaxation and unwinding, and correct pain and imbalances. I have been practicing massage therapy professionally since 2008, graduating from the massage therapy program at Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, Maine. I have continuing education in Precision Neuromuscular Therapy and sports massage. I specialize in focused, therapeutic work while also delivering a muscle-melting relaxation massage. I integrate cupping and hot stone therapies into my massages if desired. I have extensive experience with pre-natal massage and love bringing relief to baby-bearing hips, low backs, and feet. I am trained in the therapeutic use of essential oils and include them in each massage as desired.

My husband and I enjoy living in the country with our three young children. We love getting outside for long walks and hikes, riding bikes, backyard games of frisbee and volleyball, and gardening. My passions of cooking and strength training fill my cup and running kids to their activities keeps me busy!
